Golden Circle
Iceland's most famous tourist route featuring geysers, waterfalls, and tectonic wonders.
About Golden Circle
The Golden Circle is Iceland's most popular day trip route, covering approximately 300 kilometers of stunning landscapes and geological wonders. This iconic route showcases three of Iceland's most celebrated attractions: Þingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss Waterfall.
Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet and visibly drift apart. This historically significant site was also home to Iceland's ancient parliament, established in 930 AD.
The Geysir Geothermal Area features bubbling hot springs and the famous Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 5-10 minutes, shooting boiling water up to 30 meters into the air. The nearby Gullfoss (Golden Falls) is a magnificent two-tiered waterfall that plunges 32 meters into a rugged canyon.
