Dramatic coastline featuring black sand beaches, glaciers, and powerful waterfalls.
About South Coast
Iceland's South Coast is a treasure trove of natural wonders stretching from Reykjavik to the glacier lagoon at Jökulsárlón. This region features some of Iceland's most iconic landscapes, including thundering waterfalls, jet-black beaches, and massive glaciers.
The journey along Route 1 reveals a constantly changing panorama. Seljalandsfoss waterfall allows visitors to walk behind its curtain of water, while nearby Skógafoss impresses with its powerful 60-meter drop. The black sand beach at Reynisfjara, with its dramatic basalt columns and roaring Atlantic waves, is hauntingly beautiful.
Further east, the Vatnajökull glacier dominates the horizon, Europe's largest ice cap. The Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, filled with floating icebergs, and the nearby Diamond Beach, where ice chunks wash ashore, create otherworldly scenes that captivate every visitor.
