Coverage by Region

Coverage varies dramatically across Iceland. The Central Highlands have zero coverage from ANY provider — download offline maps in Reykjavik and always register your route at safetravel.is.

Free WiFi Locations

Free WiFi is widely available in Iceland's towns and tourist facilities. The key strategy: use WiFi at fuel stations, supermarkets, and libraries to download maps and sync apps before heading to remote areas.

Pro strategy: Before leaving Reykjavik for a remote road trip, stop at a Bonus supermarket or N1 station and spend 20 minutes downloading all offline maps and app data on their free WiFi.
